3 days that will be etched in the memory banks for ever. Seeing the kids catch their first marlin out of Tairua.
A nice patch of striped marlin turned up wide of Red Mercury. Carl kicked February off with one solo then had a ball getting into some more with his mates.
Paul and Carl took off for an afternoon at it chasing hapuka - and found some nice ones close to Tairua
Great couple of days on the water jigging kings, deep dropping for big bluenose and gathering a nice feed of paua - maybe winters not so bad :-)
There are plenty of nice fish at the moment in close to Tairua. Carl and the family have been getting out and having a ball.

What a great week of game fishing with good mates! Tairua was ON this week and we came away with 2 swordfish, a crazy day that produced 3 stripeys, plus we managed 3 stripeys on 15kg, short bill spearfish and mahimahi. Good times!

Loving this winter! The Hapuka have moved in to a patch of reef where we're consistently getting 30kg+ fish, and on the days where the wind has kept us on the coast some nice 20lb snapper have been hitting softbaits
You can't beat Bluenose when it comes to eating but with the size of some of the bluenose that have been turning up lately, they've been a sport fish in their own right! Also some very nice kingfish on jigs
Every year the Nationals produces some superb game fishing, this time it was a 106kg Big Eye for old Ants! What a cool week of gamefishing including some wicked striped marlin action as well...
Good way to see in the New Year with a crew of keen Japanese jiggers! And the hook produces a big bad bass!!
