New Zealand is an angler's paradise with limitless options for the keen angler. In 2010 I vowed, having explored most of my backyard, to go and fish every last piece of New Zealand. The Three Kings, Fiordland, Ranfurly Banks, Hokianga and Waihau Bay, were all top of the list places I had never fished before but wanted to get to. Here are a few stories from adventures getting out to some of those spots. Several have made it into New Zealand fishing mags. I've got plenty more amazing New Zealand spots I would like to get to one day, and hope to bring you some new stories when I do.
Uncovering a whole new winter game fishery in Waihau Bay, New Zealand - a successful road trip to chase Southern Bluefin Tuna
Flying into Fiordland is about as close as you come to time travel. As our helicopter floated through the mist into Dusky Sound it was like we had travelled back 20,000 years....
Just back from Waihau Bay where the game fishing action is just kicking off - pulled the hook out of a nice Blue, and got a fat 100kg+ stripey - both on the Bonze Hercules.
A once in a lifetime trip that will be etched into the memory banks forever! Big bass to 67kg, hapuka to 42kg, kingfish to 40kg, but most importantly a trip to the mecca of NZ fishing with best mates and family...
Two great road trips, one to Whitianga for the Bonze Skins and getting Sam his first marlin, and another to Hokianga and getting Ants his first NZ marlin.
